Robert Thomas GANDON, the son of Zaccheus & Amelia GANDON was born on 7th March 1833 Archer Street, London and baptised on. 26 May 1833 Saint James, Westminster. It seems likely that the family were living at Grey Street, Mile End, Stepney in 1841 when his sister Amelia was born, although no records from the 1841 Census for Grey Street now exist. The family are recorded living at 6 Norfolk Place, Greenwich in the1851 census.
Thomas married Married Elizabeth Ann RHODES on 11th June 1864 at New Alresford, Hants. Elizabeth Ann was the daughter of Joseph & Sarah Ann RHODES born on13th February 1840 at Saddleworth, Yorks. Thomas & Elizabeth had one son, Herbert born in 1869. They have not been traced in the 1871 census, but they were living at 13 Chatham Road, Greenwich in 1881 and 20 Burland Road, Battersea in 1891.
Ann died in the September Quarter of 1894 aged 54.
On 16th April 1896 Thomas married Eliza Jane CURTIS at Avenue Congregational Church, Southampton. Eliza Jane's sister, Alice Ann married Francis Skinner WILKINS on the same occasion
Eliza Jane CURTIS, the daughter of James & Eliza CURTIS, baptised on 13th July 1856 at Holy Trinity Church, Southampton was living at Warwick House, 23 The Avenue, Southampton at that time. Thomas had been living at 155 Leathwaite Road, Battersea, but following their marriage they moved to 74 Ramsden Road Balham, and in 1898. their daughter, Ina Elsie was born on 15th March 1898. In 1900 the family moved to 51a Westridge Road, Portswood and then in 1904 to 'Bannatyre' Corbett Road, Bitterne Park until 1910. In 1911 they moved to 'Carradale', 69 Welbeck Avenue, Portswood.

Robert Thomas GANDON died on 2nd October 1925 and was buried on 7th October 1925 in plot Q130/79, Southampton old Cemetery, Hill Lane.
ELIZA Jane continued to live in Welbeck Avenue until her death on 2nd December 1943. She was buried with Robert Thomas in Southampton Old Cemetery, Hill Lane on 6th December 1943.
