PROCTORS (Stone Masons)

Joseph PROCTOR  married Susanna PARKIN at Ecclesfield  on 26th December 1785.

They may have had as many as eight children, Ann (1787), John (1789), Elizabeth (1781), Joseph (1793), Rhoda (1798), Sarah (1800), Jonathan (1803),George (1805)

John PROCTOR was baptised at Cathedral St Peter,Sheffield on 22nd April 1789 and married Ann RIDLE of Huddersfield  on 12th May 1816.

The 1831 census for Nether Hallam records John PROCTOR of Hill Bridge and Joseph PROCTOR of Owlerton (his father), both Stonemasons. In 1836 Jonathan PROCTOR , younger brother to John, was clearly a master stonemason as witnessed by the Indenture of "William WATSON the Younger".  In the 1841 Census Jonathan PROCTOR is a 37 year old stonemason, still living at Hill Bridge,.

John  and Ann had 10 children William (1817), George (1818), Mary Ann (1822), Joshua (c.1821), John (c.1829),Ellen (c.1833), Edward (c.1835), Alfred (c.1837), Charles (1839), Elizabeth (1842).

Mary Ann PROCTOR, the daughter of  John & Ann PROCTOR, was born on 6th September 1822 and baptised at Cathedral St Peter,Sheffield on 27th October 1822 .  She is recorded in the 1841 Census working as an "F.S." {Female Servant} at Holdworth Hall {about 3 miles NW of Sheffield}

Jeremiah Buckley and Mary PROCTOR married at Cathedral St Peter,Sheffield on 27th October 1845
